Why it’s different
Dali Vino isn’t a typical gallery and it isn’t just a wine bar – it’s where you spend an evening painting your own canvas with a glass of wine in hand. You don’t need any experience, any supplies, or any “art talent”. You simply book an event, show up, and let their team guide you from a blank canvas to something you’re surprisingly proud to take home.
The concept is simple and brilliant: under the guidance of a professional artist, everyone in the room paints the same picture step by step, while chatting, laughing, and sipping wine. It feels more like a creative night out with friends than a class – and that’s exactly the point.
How it works
Choose a painting and gallery Check their online calendar and pick a painting you like, along with the location that suits you best – one of the galleries in Sofia or the one in Plovdiv.
Arrive a bit early When you walk in, your spot is already prepared: canvas on an easel, brushes, palette, apron, and a glass of wine waiting by your side.
Follow the artist, step by step A master artist stands at the front and paints the same picture in stages, showing each step on a large canvas. You follow along at your own pace. It’s relaxed, beginner-friendly, and there’s always someone nearby if you need help.
Sip, chat, create Between brushstrokes you top up your wine, talk with friends (or strangers who quickly feel like friends), and slowly see your own version of the artwork appear.
Take your masterpiece home After 2.5–3 hours, you leave with your finished painting – rolled up or carried proudly flat – and that nice feeling of having done something a bit different with your evening.
Vibe & who it’s for
Dali Vino feels playful and welcoming: colorful walls, rows of easels, aprons with their logo, and a room full of people focused on their canvases but also quietly buzzing with conversation and music.
You’ll see all kinds of groups here:
- Friends celebrating a birthday or just a random weekday
- Couples on a date night that’s not “just dinner and drinks”
- Colleagues on a team-building evening
- Solo guests who simply want a few hours of calm, color, and wine
It’s social, but also strangely meditative – you’re with other people, yet completely absorbed in your own canvas.
Wine & extras
Wine is, of course, part of the experience. They offer a curated selection (including Bulgarian wines) and the idea is to enjoy a glass or two while you paint, not rush through it. If you don’t drink alcohol, you can still join – there are non-alcoholic options and the main focus is the painting itself.
Many events are simple “paint & wine” evenings, but they also host themed nights, private parties, and collaborations with restaurants or hotels. It’s easy to imagine this as a fun start to a night out in Sofia or Plovdiv.
Locations
Dali Vino currently runs several art & wine spaces, including two permanent galleries in Sofia and one in Plovdiv:
Dali Vino Center, Sofia – A cozy studio near Mall of Sofia on bul. Aleksandar Stamboliyski. Convenient if you’re staying around the city center and want something creative to do in the evening.
Dali Vino Van Gogh, Sofia – A larger gallery on ul. Vincent Van Gogh 7, with more space for bigger events and an open-air terrace when the weather is kind. Great if you’re with a bigger group or you like the idea of painting while watching the city lights.
Dali Vino Plovdiv – Located in Mall Markovo Tepe on floor 2, this gallery is a nice option if you’re exploring Plovdiv and want to end the day indoors with art and wine. The interior is modern, colorful, and designed to make you feel like you’re in a dedicated creative studio, not just a corner of a mall.
They also organise pop-up and outdoor events (gardens, rooftops, and different spaces in Sofia and across the country), so it’s worth checking the calendar if you like the idea of painting under the open sky.
Good to know
- Booking is essential – Most events require advance reservation through their website calendar.
- Beginner-friendly – The format is designed for people who “can’t draw a straight line”. You follow a step-by-step demonstration, so it’s very accessible.
- Duration – Sessions usually last around 2.5–3 hours.
- All materials included – Canvas, paints, brushes, apron, and one glass of wine (or alternative) are provided.
- You keep the painting – Your canvas goes home with you as a memory from the evening.
- Private events available – They organise corporate events, birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, kids’ groups, and themed nights.
- Clothes – Aprons help, but acrylic paint can be stubborn. Choose something comfortable that you don’t mind getting a tiny drop of color on.
Final thoughts
If you’re visiting Sofia or Plovdiv and want a night that’s more memorable than “another bar or restaurant”, Dali Vino is a lovely option. You switch off your phone, pick up a brush, and for a few hours your whole world is just color, canvas, music, and a good glass of wine.
You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy it – you simply have to show up and let yourself play. And that’s exactly why I see Dali Vino as a positive, creative way to escape reality for an evening.
