Best coffee places in Edinburgh

Best coffee places in Edinburgh

1. Waterstones Café, Princes Street

My first recommendation is the café inside Waterstones on Princes Street. Their coffee is strong, and their cappuccino is consistently delicious — perfectly balanced without too much milk. The ambiance is warm and inviting, ideal for reading a book or simply enjoying a moment of peace. While it can get a bit noisy in the afternoons, mornings are usually quiet and especially pleasant.

2. Hotel Chocolat Café

Next on my list is Hotel Chocolat. While I’m not a huge hot chocolate fan myself, this place is an exception. The rich aroma of chocolate fills the air, and their hot chocolate — with its luxurious cream topping — is the star of the show. The staff are incredibly friendly and always happy to make recommendations, whether for drinks or their impressive selection of high-quality chocolates. Their coffee is also good, but it’s the overall sensory experience that makes this café worth visiting.

3. Söderberg, Quartermile

Last but definitely not least is Söderberg on Quartermile. This is a must-visit for any coffee enthusiast. Their coffee is strong and crafted with care — every cup feels like it was made by someone who truly understands coffee. I especially enjoyed their cappuccino: not too milky, not too sweet — just the right balance to let the flavor of the coffee shine through.

I’m sure there are more great coffee places around Edinburgh that I’ve yet to discover, and I’d love to find them. If you have any recommendations, feel free to share — I’m always up for a good coffee adventure!
